To land the job at Runner’s World, I had to meet the magazine’s managing editor for a run and manage to keep up with him and talk while he peppered me with questions about my work ethic and running habits. Despite the fact that I wore cotton (a huge running fashion no-no) to that job interview, I still got the job. I spent three years there as the magazine’s health and fitness editor. I wrote countless features, supervised three columnists and staff members, spoke at race expos and other events, and edited the health and fitness content. I also got paid to run a marathon in Hawaii.
